Three towns,
one city

Cambridge is three towns in one. In 1973, Galt, Preston, and Hespeler merged into a single city, and more than fifty years later each keeps its own character. Galt's limestone heart along the Grand River holds some of the finest heritage architecture in Ontario — homes that reward renovation done properly, modernized without erasing the stonework and proportion that make them irreplaceable.

Preston and Hespeler carry their own mill-town histories: century workers' cottages, post-war neighbourhoods, and — in Hespeler's converted mills — a newer generation of loft living. South and east toward the 401, the subdivisions around Saginaw, Clemens Mill, and Riverbank follow the familiar new-build pattern — good bones, standard finishes, unfinished basements waiting to be personalized.

We work across all of it. Sensitive heritage updates in West Galt. Basement finishing and open-concept conversions in the newer east end. Post-war transformations in Preston and Hespeler. Different eras, same standard of execution.

Ready When You Are

Let's renovate your Cambridge home.

Built for both eras.

Cambridge doesn't renovate like one city because it never was one. Galt, Preston, and Hespeler each ask for something different.Renovating here means knowing which city you're standing in before you pick up a tool.

01

Heritage & Century Home Experience

Galt's limestone homes and the century cottages of Preston and Hespeler come with plaster walls, original trim, uneven floors, and structural quirks that punish shortcuts. We renovate character homes with the patience they require: preserving what matters, modernizing what doesn't.

02

Basement Specialization

The 401-corridor builds hand you a basement that's roughed-in and nothing more. We finish them properly — code-compliant bedrooms, egress windows sized right, full bathrooms — and it's the work Cambridge homeowners ask us for most.

03

City of Cambridge Permits

A heritage renovation and a new-build basement don't move through the City of Cambridge the same way. We draw both sets of plans complete and correct the first time, then carry the approvals ourselves so nothing stalls before you break ground.

04

Established Neighbourhood Logistics

Older Cambridge streets come with tight driveways, big trees, and neighbours who notice everything. We run trades, deliveries, dust, and noise to keep the disruption low. Same care on a heritage block in Galt as on a family court in the east end.

Common local questions.

The questions Guelph homeowners ask us most often.

Do you renovate heritage homes in Galt?
+

Yes. Galt's limestone and brick homes require a different approach than new construction — plaster, original trim, uneven structures, and outdated wiring and plumbing. Where a property sits within a Heritage Conservation District, we account for the added approval requirements as part of the plan.

Can you finish basements in newer Cambridge subdivisions?
+

Yes. Newer areas around Saginaw, Clemens Mill, and Riverbank typically come with unfinished basements, often with bathroom plumbing rough-ins already in place. We design the layout around your family's needs — bedrooms, bathrooms, rec rooms, home offices.

How long does basement renovation take in Cambridge?
+

A basic finished basement runs 6 to 8 weeks. Adding a bathroom extends it to 8 to 10 weeks. Multi-room basements with a bedroom and bath can take 10 to 12 weeks. We give you a project-specific schedule before construction starts

How long do permits take in Cambridge?
+

Straightforward basement or interior renovation permits typically take a few weeks; projects with structural changes, additions, or heritage considerations take longer. We submit complete drawings the first time to keep the City of Cambridge approval process on schedule.

Can you remove load-bearing walls in older Cambridge homes?
+

In most cases, yes — but older homes demand extra care. We coordinate structural engineering for proper beam sizing, verify what the wall is actually carrying (older homes hold surprises), manage permits, and integrate the new structure cleanly

Is Cambridge within your regular service area?
+

Yes. We serve Cambridge and Waterloo Region alongside Halton Hills, Milton, Oakville, and Burlington. In-home consultations in Cambridge are free.
